Coal Ash:  I have been working with Susan Wind for the last 14 months on this issue and continue to stay in constant contact with her. I serve on an Iredell County Health Dept. taskforce made up of county and state electeds and officials addressing coal ash as it relates to the health of our community. Alongside our state elected officials Senator Vickie Sawyer and NC Representative John Fraley, we've had the water tested and are now testing the soil for coal ash around ISS & MGSD schools. We've been working with state agencies including DHHS (Dept. of Health & Human Services) and DEQ (Dept. of Environmental Quality) and the local medical community about the cancer cluster and any health risk associated with coal ash.I have been engaged on the topic of coal ash and wholeheartedly support a higher level of information and accountability. We have an uphill battle with the EPA's coal ash proposal that would loosen restrictions. I'd be happy to meet with you and discuss further if interested.
